TRASH PLANET

Written and Directed by Marian Kansas

Synopsis: Trash Planet is a new science-fiction play that follows a group of survivors stuck on a planet-sized landfill in another galaxy as they try to make a living and find a way home. When a new survivor suddenly appears, the group is thrown into disarray and must adapt in order to stay alive.

Characters:

  • Maribel (Female): Newest arrival to Trash Planet, Maribel is well meaning but can be impulsive. Maribel is part of the foraging team on Trash Planet.

  • Ma (Female): The longest inhabitant of Trash Planet, Ma has naturally become the leader of the survivors because she's focused, direct, hardworking, and motivates others.

  • Cam (Male or nonbinary): The scientist of Trash Planet, Cam is working to keep a trash wormhole open to help the group get home. Cam is direct, blunt, and cynical.

  • Julia (Female or nonbinary): Julia is part of the foraging team and is revealed to be the secret gardener of Trash Planet.

  • Critter (Male or nonbinary): Critter is the lead forager on Trash Planet, and legitimately loves picking through garbage to find something interesting or useful. Not that any character wants to be on Trash Planet, but out of all of them, Critter is the most naturally suited to survival there.

  • Jasmine (Female or nonbinary): Jasmine is the archivist and record keeper for Trash Planet that's teaching Teeny to read and write in her free time. Jasmine is considerate and caring.

  • Augustina aka Teeny (female): Teeny is approximately fifteen years old and is the only real inhabitant of Trash Planet. Found as a baby by Ma, Teeny has been exclusively raised on Trash Planet and is desperate to return to Earth. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL BE CASTING SOMEONE 18+ FOR THIS ROLE.
